Flavourful Eats Summer Picnic eateries with Avocado June 4, 2021 Producer: Humsha Naidoo Guest: Sumana Bhat & Shilpa Bhat 1 Guacamole with Veggie & Flaxseed Corn Tortilla Chips Ingredients • 2 avocados • 1 small onion, finely chopped • 1 clove garlic, minced • 1 ripe tomato, chopped • 1 lemon, juiced • 2 tablespoon cilantro, chopped • Salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper to taste Method 1. Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl 2. Stir in onion, garlic, tomato, lime juice, and cilantro 3. Add salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper to taste 4. Chill for half an hour to blend flavors 2 Avocado Toast with a Balsamic Glaze Ingredients • 1⁄2 avocado • 1 slice of bread (sourdough) • Mascarpone cheese • 1⁄2 tomato • Balsamic vinegar • Basil Method 1. Toast the bread 2. Spread a thin layer of mascarpone cheese on toast 3. Mash the avocado with a fork and spread on top of cheese 4. Slice tomato and lay on top of avocado 5. Drizzle balsamic vinegar on top of toast 6. Add basil on top and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste 3 Avocado Smoothie, Butter fruit Milkshake Ingredients • 1 Avocado • 1 cup Almond milk • Honey (optional) • Handful of ice • Topping: Pistachios Method 1. Avocado should be ripe to get a smooth texture 2. You can use dairy, soy, oat or any other type of milk. You can also use yogurt instead of milk 3. Sweetener can be honey, maple syrup, agave, dates. You can adjust the quantity to your taste. It is optional too. 4. You can add chia seeds, flax seeds, 1 scoop of protein powder to make it more nutritious 5. Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. 6. Garnish with pistachios (you can use any nuts) and serve immediately. http://www.actontv.org
