Vermicelli from Mrs Shirley Naidoo’s kitchen Savoury and sweet Vermicelli upma Savoury 2 Tbls Avacado oil 3/4 cup fine MTR vermicelli (Angel Hair) 1/2 “ cinnamon stick 2 cardamom pods 2 Tblsp ghee ( optional) 1/4 tsp mustard seeds 1/4 tsp garam masala 1 sprig curry leaves (optional) 2 green chillies (optional) 1/4 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup vegetable (carrot, green beans,peas) 1 cup boiling water Vermicelli with sago (tapioca) sweet 1/4 “ cinnamon stick 1/4 cup vermicelli 1 Tbsp sago 1/2 cup boiling water 2 cups milk or milk alternate 90 ml sugar (6 Tbsp) or to taste or maple syrup or date syrup 1/4 tsp ground cardamom Vermicelli with soaked mung bean sweet Soak 1 Tablespoon green mung for 3 hours in water keep aside .
