Most parents who consider sleepaway camp for their kids have at least some anxiety over sending their children away for weeks on end with minimal contact. They worry: will my kid be safe? And what if they get home sick? Or just hate the whole experience? These fears are understandable and not uncommon. But they shouldn’t deter parents from taking a step that will have a profound and lasting positive impact on the lives of their children. That includes developing independence and self-confidence, participating in activities that the kids might not otherwise have access to, and forging deep friendships that will last a lifetime.
