Hear Me Out EP3 - Stay-At-Home Dads: Challenges and Triumphs

Description

It wasn’t too long ago that the term “stay-at-home dads” wasn’t heard of. But now, fathers who are at home with their kids has become the new normal. And their numbers are growing. In this video, Dr. Stephen Farough, Associate Professor of Sociology at Assumption University, will talk about his research on men who have taken-on the role of primary caregiver for the children and manage the household. From data collected from dozens of surveys and personal interviews with stay-at-home dads, Dr. Farough will discuss what these men shared about the triumphs and challenges associated with taking on this role, how it affects their male identity, and overcoming the stigma of no longer being the primary breadwinner. With host Spencer Demetros, Dr. Farough will also discuss changing concepts of masculinity, why many men have been struggling in recent years, and what solutions are available. This video is taken from the show Hear Me Out, with Spencer Demetros that airs on ActonTV. Links: https://www.watchhearmeout.com/ https://actontv.org/
